Miners Piled Up In Van
NSCDC arrested dozens of young gold miners in Minna. They threw them into a sealed cell with no ventilation. They screamed, pounded the door, begged for air. Nobody came. By morning, 37 were dead, suffocated in a room built for maybe a dozen. The government's first response? "Illness outbreak." Survivors say otherwise. Mothers are collecting bodies. The commander got suspended. The gold is still there. In Nigeria, if you dig a little gold, the state digs you a grave.

I just saw one of the survivors on the news. He said it was heat like he'd never felt before. He said it felt like he was burning.   |
