Re: Military Helicopter On Humanitarian Mission Crashed - Eight Soldiers Dead
What injuries did you sustain? Thank God you survived. My uncle was in a single car crash right into a "non-collapsible" telephone pole in 1993. I was 12. My grandfather took photos of his vehicle after the fact and I remember the very first picture the front of the car looks fine, the back of the car looks fine but then the one single picture that really revealed how bad it was was the indentation of the telephone pole right exactly where the driver side seat was and there was dried up blood on the headrest. I remember at his wake, my grandmother wanted an open casket, and his right side looked fine… But as soon as you looked in the casket and saw the left side, all I really saw was make up, it didn't even seem like they tried to put anything back together or put something plastic in, it looks like a slope. I know this is gonna sound weird because he was my uncle… But I have often wondered what the impact did to him. Otoh I'd be interested to see any photos from that, but otoh it would certainly be an image burned in that I'm probably better off not seeing.

Re: Military Helicopter On Humanitarian Mission Crashed - Eight Soldiers Dead
I only had cuts and bruises. The 2 lads in the back got thrown out of the rear or side window while we were rolling and they were also only bruised up and cut. The driver got serious leg injuries and had to be cut out. One of the firemen said to me he'd never seen anyone survive a crash like that. When we came to a halt upside down I looked behind me for my mates and the back of the car was crushed and ripped open and they were gone, I though they were dead so was fucking amazed to find them both sitting up in the road after I crawled out of the wreck. It was fucking bonkers, I still can't get my head around it 30 years later. But besides that I've seen one of my mates in a casket after a car crash killed him and his head was fucked up and it looked like they used clay and stuff to rebuild his face. The make up too, it looked ridiculous. I didn't want to go and look at him but at his funeral loads of people got up and walked to the casket and there were people just staring at me like expecting me to get up so I did it out of respect. I dream about him sometimes and in my dreams he's alive and fine but with his face all smashed in, exactly how I saw it that day. Not really a nice image to have but, to use your words, it's burned in. |
