The Laguna de Carpintero is an extremely dangerous area because it is inhabited by moreletti crocodiles, so the municipal government asks the inhabitants and tourists not to approach the shores due to the danger of an attack.

Despite the warnings, there have been various attacks on fishermen, homeless people and tourists.
