No pun intended but isn't that overkill to film his beating heart until it completely stops? There's no paramedics standing by, no life saving "Wolverine healing factor" to kick in, he's gone... permanently. Maybe there's some symbolism to it to show their superior that the job is done, but I see no point in it when all those other acts pretty much seal his fate.

The cartel basically calling out all other cartels (especially "La Linea") and telling them Zatcatecas territory is theirs and this will happen to anyone else who crosses them. The victim yells "don't step on me" while they were cutting near his actual face, because they were holding him down while standing on him.

He wasn't just drugged but the first thing the guy did was cut a gash in the back of his neck which most likely paralyzed him,bunch of nerves and stuff he cut back there which allowed him free reign on cutting all the skin off his head without much resistance.
