Re: Mexico-Cancun Attack

An attack in the wee hours of Friday on a bar in this Caribbean resort city left one person dead and three others wounded, Mexican authorities said.

At least three assailants armed with long guns arrived outside the Ginza bar in a taxi and opened fire, according to the initial police report.

The establishment is located near the entrance to Puerto Cancun, an upscale residential, shopping and marina complex adjacent to the hotel district of Mexico’s leading tourist destination.

“An investigation began into events that occurred outside a bar in a square on Bonampak Avenue where subjects discharged firearms and injured four people who are receiving medical attention at the moment,” the Quintana Roo state Attorney General’s Office said on Twitter early Friday.

Subsequently, Cancun General Hospital said that a 40-year-old man from the central Mexican city of Toluca died of wounds received in the shooting.

The wounded survivors were identified as a 39-year-old Brazilian woman, a male Cancun resident of 25 and the Ginza’s head of security.

Last Sunday, the Ginza and the Cancun bureau of a Mexican television network were among buildings struck by bullets during a after-hours shooting spree that remains unsolved.

Mexico ended 2020 with 34,515 homicides, down slightly from the previous year’s record of 34,648.

A significant portion of murders in Mexico can be attributed to organized crime, reflecting ongoing territorial struggles among the country’s powerful, heavily armed drug cartels.

Re: Mexico-Cancun Attack

Night Club killings can't be good for the tourism industry.
Los Zetas, CJNG, CDS, are all vying for the lucrative drug trade. Cancun is going to end up like Acapulco if they keep it up.
