if it wasn't instantly it was only a split second. I wish they would have showed shooting the other three guys.

Re: Mexican Execution From the Ogrish Archives

Its good to see another marine here. When i went to sniper school in quantico in 2001, the people there had a full 3 days on where to shoot someone for instant incapacitation. The medulla oblongata or Apricot as we call it is a small section of the brain that stops ALL nerve signals. The second spot is right above the center of your shoulders, in the spine. Ideally it's supposed to be right where your Atlas and Axis spinal bones meet. Both shots to those areas means INSTANT DEATH. Everything else is a numbers game. Example: I shot a combatant that met the rules of engagement in Afghanistan in his heart, He watched his blood dump out of his chest, and then droped his weapon and fell. That is not instant to me.

MY SOURCES: 2 TOURS IN AFGHANISTAN, CAMP RHINO, 3/23 SCOUT/SNIPER PLATOON.
The c1atlas and c2axis support the head, and surround the brain stem, cradle and support the head. They do not lie 'right above the center of your shoulders', but rather 4-6" above the center of your shoulders, unless of course you have no neck, in which case you probably won't mind being shot. The single best shot placement is the nose if it is a level shot at longer ranges. Short range (<300y), the projectile is still going fast enough to create a sonic explosion inside of the skull, destroying the brain beyond the point of survivability.

I'm not a sniper nor am I prior military, but my father was a ranger and then SOG in 'nam and shared a plethora of his knowledge with me growing up. I am on the other hand, a physics and anatomy enthusiast.

Re: Mexican Execution From the Ogrish Archives

Oh im sure he felt it. The brain isn't fully dead until its gone several minutes without oxygen. Thing is. The brain doesn't have any nerve endings so I guess the only pain he would feel would be the entry site. Honestly I don't know but I don't believe that saying " they died so fast they didn't feel a thing"

You so do.

I just don't see how they can just reamin sitting there AFTER the dude got shot. I would be fighting for my life!! Fuck it, I'm going to die anyway!

I know they arn't right between your shoulders. I merely had a conflict of thoughts going on and mentioned two different targets. I realized this later on but decided not to edit myself, being lazy i quess. I agree with everything you said. But, the aiming for the nose at long range is a bit exaggerated. It's not that your wrong, a lot of books say to do this for 300 yards or less (The FBI HRT demands it). At about 600 yards and beyond though, what the US faces in A-stan, the M-118 round is arcing so badly that it falls onto the target like a morter. Just for your reference though, the M118 also has enough kinetic energy at 1100 yards to make your head go "boom", even sub-sonic ammo can make a mess out of you but at closer range of-course

Re: Mexican Execution From the Ogrish Archives

Wouldnt have felt a thing. In the split second that it takes the nerves to register pain he was already dead. When the brain suffers massive trauma like that it just shuts down. In this case it was destroyed by the bullet... so he died instantly.
That is correct. No pain..
