Oh im sure he felt it. The brain isn't fully dead until its gone several minutes without oxygen. Thing is. The brain doesn't have any nerve endings so I guess the only pain he would feel would be the entry site. Honestly I don't know but I don't believe that saying " they died so fast they didn't feel a thing"

i would have to say that is one killer headache!

Very misleading statement. The brain takes awhile without oxygen to die, but it takes a lot less time without a proper blood flow to kill someone, thirty secondsish off the top of my head.
