A man is dead and a suspect is on the run after a shooting in Frayser on this past Saturday afternoon, the Memphis Police Department said.

Officers responded to the shooting at a busy shopping center in the 2600 block of Frayser Boulevard around 12:34 p.m.

According to MPD, a man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Surveillance video shows a victim leaving a tobacco shop around that time. Then, a man in a black ski mask runs up, shoots him in the face, steals something and takes off.

The suspect left the scene in a silver, late modeled sedan, MPD said.

The shooting happened in broad daylight in a packed shopping center. Dozens of people crowded around the scene. Some were visibly shaken and mourning the loss of the man killed.
