Because they don’t care about other people like we do. They are a very arrogant and self centered people. ~ BIG pet peeve!!!!!! I honestly wish the United States would stop jumping in to help other countries like that… BUT ~ One would think, living in a desert, where temperatures regularly get this hot, and always very dry, that they would have water with them when they travel!!!!!! |

And look at all the garbage!!! I can’t walk down the street without picking up the pieces of garbage I find… I couldn’t imagine not having pride in where you live! But that speaks to their values. |

Re: Many Pilgrims Dehydrated to Death in Saudi Arabia
I imagine many traveled via bus or donkey cart with little more a duffel. Water in quantities for many days in those temps is too heavy to bring along. So they would need $ to buy potable water on the road. Probably not much $ among pilgrims. I suspect the older ones expect to perish on the pilgrimage: One last bucket item before they check out.

Re: Many Pilgrims Dehydrated to Death in Saudi Arabia
Actually, that's what I thought, until I got into really early antique cars. The appropriate costume is 1910 style dress, and then a "duster" to keep from getting all gritty from road dust. To my surprise, even when it was hot out, it was REALLY nice in my duster. I never even sweated. A "Duster" wraps around your entire body, from your neck down to your ankles. It not only keeps the sun off of you, but you walk around with your own little environment under the duster, very cool and comfortable. I finally realized why the arabs wear those burnooses (burnees?) The only drawback for them is they don't have the 1905 Rambler to ride around in, waving at people. |

Re: Many Pilgrims Dehydrated to Death in Saudi Arabia
I was just talking about this yesterday. Wearing dresses, or similar garb, is actually very cool in the heat. Like you said, it’s like having your own little shaded environment underneath the duster coat. It doesn’t seem like black would be very cool in that sun and heat, (the women are probably made to wear black just for punishment for ‘original sin’, or something stupid like that) but the style is very, uhm, breezy? Being open underneath, there’s nothing between you and nature. Unless you wear underwear… |
