Yeah, hat back on... for some reason THAT's hard to see. I'd suspect the old guy was SUPER drunk/high/medicated, or possibly mentally or physiologically impaired: some of US might not be able to just get up and run or fight if attacked like that, like bad knees/back/ankles/heart precluding doing ANYthing fast.
