Burmese Man Is Beheaded, Before His Body His Thrown Into the Irrawaddy
Myanmar The deceased was reportedly a civilian captured by regime troops and members of local militias while they were conducting operations near Mezalichuang village, an area of Sagaing Township famous for its tourist sites. He was accused of being a member of the People's Defence Force (PDF), the armed wing of the National Unity Government, which opposes the currently ruling military junta. In the video, the man is asked if he is a member of the PDF, with someone ordering "I don't want to hear any gunshots". The man is then stabbed, before one of his captors hacks at his legs with a machete. He is then beheaded - his killers place his head on his torso, and pose with his body. Afterwards, his body was dissected, before being thrown into the Irrawaddy. The killing occurred in July 2024, but the videos have only recently been released, by those who witnessed the killing but have since defected to the PDF. |
