You translated yourself, the guy didn’t even have time to think, his immediate reaction was to blurt out what are you doing? He felt pain, screamed, probably thought of his imminent death then died. This happened in a few seconds.

In your mind the victim having his shirt off, enjoying the sun and his life for a few moments before getting stabbed (out of nowhere!) equates to him not having “situational awareness”.
