A man was shot dead and his wife wounded in a suspected road rage incident in Johannesburg after a minor collision between two drivers escalated into a physical fight and gunfire.

The shooting occurred in the Emmarentia suburb. According to police, two male drivers became involved in a road rage confrontation that turned physical following what witnesses described as a bumper-bashing.

A female passenger, believed to be the wife of one of the drivers, retrieved a firearm from one of the vehicles during the altercation. The second driver then drew his own gun, leading to shots being fired.

The husband was killed at the scene. The other driver sustained minor injuries, while the female passenger was hospitalized with a gunshot wound. A 58-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
