I think this was a popular quote with 9th Day Adventists, and Christian Metro Science worshippers, at their pagan bonfire celebrations.

And their bridge building ceremonies to eject witches by seeing if they were made of wood.

Yes, indeed! The oddest thing about this, is that it appears in the Bhagatipashiva, the Hindu book of "Helpful Hints For Modern Living"
