Spain, A 57-year-old man died this Sunday after being gored by a bull during a town's festival. The incident occurred when the victim, a resident of the town, was gored several times by the bull during the second bull of the release held in the town, known as Toro del Gayumbo, a festival that has been held for the past 10 years in anticipation of the celebrations for the day of the town's patron saint, the Virgen de los Remedios.

The event program, held this Sunday, included two bull releases in a fenced area in the town's streets, one at 12:30 p.m. and the other at 6:30 p.m.

After the first bull release passed without incident, it was during the second that the incident occurred.

The bull, named Mosquetero, attacked the man several times. The resident was taken to the local health center, where he received first aid. He died there at 8:15 p.m.

The City Council expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased in a statement posted on its social media.

The moment of the attack was witnessed by residents and visitors who were in the area and was recorded by some of those gathered.

The City Council has therefore urged "prudence and respect" for the deceased's surroundings.

Furthermore, the Council has suspended the fireworks display scheduled for Sunday night and has ordered that flags be flown at half-mast on Monday, the feast day of the patron saint.

The company África Taurina SL and the Gayumbo Bullfighting Club, organizers of the event, issued a joint statement stating that the release took place "with all possible safety measures and precautions for the event, ensuring the safety of participants and spectators."

The deceased was also a member of the organizing club, according to the organization, which said it "sincerely shares the pain of this irreparable loss."

The initiative of releasing bulls around popular festivals is held in various towns in the province of Cádiz, such as Vejer de la Frontera, Arcos de la Frontera, Paterna de Rivera, Grazalema, and Benamahoma.

In most cases, they are held around a religious or civil festival in the municipality, such as fairs or patron saint's days.

In this case, it is held in the run-up to the festival of the Virgen de los Remedios.

It kinda sucks that the crowd stood around for 3 business days debating the situation before finally applying a rag to his wound while he bled out. Maybe if they’d acted a little faster he could possibly have been saved.
