Re: Man Fatally Shot During Dispute In Texas
Very likely, due to Texas' "Stand Your Ground" laws. Don't pick fights at someone else's house. It's one of the fucked up things about being a man, though. Sometimes we just see red and go charging in like a bull in a china shop. Defeats might be humiliating, but they do help us come to terms with the idea that not EVERY situation should be resolved by getting in someone's face, and that no matter how powerful you think you are, there's always someone out there who can bring you to your knees. Sadly, it seems this guy missed out on all those lessons. |

Re: Man Fatally Shot During Dispute In Texas
That's odd, the guy shot really just wanted to see his son and it seems that he may have been lied to because the shooter later said the son wasn't there. Shooter gets his Ruger PCC (pistol caliber carbine) and he did fire a warning shot but at that point I think tensions were too high and the "victim" tried to disarm him on his own property. That's not a smart move and it cost him.

Also seems that Chad Read did have somewhat of a criminal past.

The delayed reactions from all are likely due to shock. I wonder how this one will play out in court. Texas is notorious for being lenient towards shooters involved in stand your ground situations like this. |

It looks like the shooter got lucky he didn't hit the people in the house, it looks like 2 people were standing down range...

Re: Man Fatally Shot During Dispute In Texas
True, and the guy never threatened violence, just legal action, and he didn't get hostile until he got the gun, but he was on his property. I say bury the guy and move on. |
