That's a bit naive. It is a not uncommon technique for criminal gangs to try to justify their killings, and lessen the enthusiasm of the authorities to solve them (after all there are a lot of crimes competing for attention) by labeling their victims as "rapists," "pedophiles," or such. All of this is "alleged" as the OP indicates. It might be true, and then again it might not.
