Re: Man Enters Shooting Club and Gets Accidentally Shot by Another Guest
Yeah, my blood pressure was going up watching this so thanks for the laugh! I finally added an ankle IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) with trauma medical gear to my EDC a few months ago so it's especially infuriating, that a place where the rules of firearm safety should be strictly enforced as reason allows (it was busy but all the more reason to calm things down and force slower pacing) not only couldn't be bothered to reasonably mitigate against such negligence but also be devoid of trauma medical. I mean, if nothing else, have chest seals at a shooting club. Come on! Everyone employed there should have regular first aid training at a bare minimum and medical gear should be staged at multiple locations on each floor. If I owned a range I'd require every ~ RSO to also carry an IFAK on body just for situations like this. Abysmal response at a place where such should be planned for (and a practiced response) by default. When I did unarmed, field security we had designated roles for emergency response. One person went outside to help gather/direct people to the muster point, one person was the radio comms POC, one person swept from top to bottom and one from bottom to top, etc. As Prep Medic on YT pointed out, someone can bleed out in two minutes (or less) so time is of the essence. Get your heads out of your asses and do something useful! The lackadaisical response just makes it all the worse. You can be intentional and not panicked or rushed (i.e. sloppy). It just looked like there was no urgency and no plan beyond comforting the victim. While that counts, comfort and substantive medical help would've counted for a lot more. Sorry about the rant but as a mere private citizen, this is just a wild thing to observe. At a shooting club. Upon re-watch there's a guy with what I assume is his daughter, as he walks her past with her on the outside and his hand over her eyes starting around 1:53. |

I guess the Range Safety Officer on the right thought that Jesus (over the doorway) was going to come off of the cross and save the guy because he didn't make a move.
