A 65-year-old man killed a 51-year-old Marcelo.S.T, 51, with an accidental gunshot wound to the chest at a popular shooting club in the northern part of São Paulo.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night (16) at the establishment, located in Mandaqui, and was recorded by a security camera.

They show the moment when the administrator Marcelo enters the establishment, around 7:40 PM.

In the footage, it is possible to see the elderly man handling the weapon, a Taurus pistol. Then the shot was fired, hitting the victim.

Marcelo falls backward onto the ground, his chest bleeding. The elderly man puts the weapon aside and approaches the administrator.

Other patrons and shooting enthusiasts who were present begin administering first aid to the victim.

Marcelo died inside the club, located on Rua Professora Romilde Nogueira de Sá. A medical team with an ambulance was called to the scene by witnesses, but upon arrival, it was confirmed that the victim was dead.

The Military Police (PM) were called and arrested the elderly man in the act. He works as an accountant and was taken to the police station, where he gave his version of the events.

According to his account, he had unloaded the weapon before going to a shooting club and, upon arriving at the location, picked up ammunition and a target from the counter.

While attempting to load the new ammunition into the pistol, the weapon discharged. The man said he believed the pistol was out of bullets, but stated that a round may have remained in the chamber without him noticing.

Since the Civil Police determined the case to be one of manslaughter, without intent to kill, the elderly man was indicted for this crime. He also paid bail – the amount was not disclosed – and was released to face the case while at liberty.
