Nobody knows. Intelligence does not seem to be a hereditary trait, having more to do with a chance configuration of neurons during development and good opportunities. But there does seem to be overall evolutionary pressure on a population, a weeding out for stupidity, in regions where life is especially tenuous, where poor planning and poor problem-solving skills kill you, and good ones keep you alive, and other factors like disease are less important. The fact that we evolved intelligence in the first place shows that evolution is at work, but once you have invented the spear, you pretty much have all the other animals dicked, and anything else is gravy. The IQ bell curve indicates that higher functioning, like math skills, is random chance. The distribution of intelligence stays constant. There are morons and geniuses, and they are in every population. But to the geniuses, everybody looks like a moron, and they are right. The belly of the bell curve is considered normal, but normal is stupid. Look at it. These are the majority, the ones who elected the retards who are running the world. /rant |
