Man is Crushed by Pole After Runaway Truck Hits a Lighting Fixture
A 32-year-old man was crushed to death after a pole was struck by an out-of-control truck on Friday morning (25) in the São Caetano neighborhood in Salvador, Bahia state, Brazil. The victim became crushed between the energy equipment hit by the vehicle and a wall. The CCTV footage shows that the truck driver lost control of the vehicle, which rolled backwards down the road and hit the pole against which the victim, identified as A.C.d.S., was leaning. In the video, it can be seen that A. notices the truck's movement and makes a move to leave the scene, but decides to use the pole to try and protect himself. The force of the impact sent the pole crashing into the wall and crushed the man, who died at the scene. According to his family, A. was waiting for a bakery to open to buy bread. The truck was carrying packages of instant coffee and some people attempted to loot the cargo. Military Police had to fire shots in the air to deter the crime. |

After reading the story, I wanted to praise the man for paying attention and making an evasive attempt trying to spare his life….but then I saw the video. He’s just another Darwin Award recipient for that boneheaded move. |

Well, I finally am forced to admit that THIS guy WAS indeed hit by a pole! Therefore I cannot complain about this particular post or it's verbiage. It is accurate in every way. |

Video quality on the first one sucks, it's not even full screen. Why the guy clearly seeing a truck coming at him with plenty of time to atleast run in the other direction decides to just stand in place. |

I think he put all his eggs in that concrete pole basket, so to speak. Little did he know that concrete in the third world is about as strong as drywall. I monkey'd with the vid a bit. Hopefully it will provide a better perspective: |
