More like they ran away after hearing some gnarly sounds from the elevator crushing him and the piercing screams that followed. If you notice the girl covers her eyes while running and it wasn’t even in her view. They already knew it was something horrific and gruesome. I’m sure those in the elevator were flipping out. I don’t know what I would do either if I saw/heard a human folded up like a beach chair. Hopefully the ran and called 911.

What would you expect any of them to do in that situation? It's not like they can stop the elevator, or do anything to help the guy, as he's already been crushed, smeared, and broken beyond repair.

This is exactly why I exit elevators quickly like there's a pit bull behind me snapping at my buttcheeks, and I always have it in my head to fall backwards if I feel the floor I'm stepping out onto start to move in any direction. The property managers and the building owners need their faces stomped in after they're sued into destitution. News reports state that they had been fined over a safety mechanism that had been tampered with and disabled, which they most likely did because it prevented the operation of the elevator and it was cheaper to keep the elevator operational by disabling it instead of fixing it. Residents said in interviews that elevator malfunctions were a frequent issue and they all knew about it, with the risk to life and limb being obvious, and yet nothing was done to fix it. Had I been a resident there and stuck in that elevator behind the victim, they probably would have had to pull me off of the property manager to keep them out of the hospital. |
