My grandfather was in industrial missionary that went to the then Belgian Congo in the 1940s (I added pics to the site about 10 years ago or so, b/w pic area). One of the things he frequently came across were the tribal witch doctors, guys that had masks & outfits that resembled something from Scooby Doo. They would "cast" their hocus-pocus spells on people, which my grandfather laughed at & tried to teach the natives that it fake. Apparently things haven't changed. |

During the Belgian Congo uprising the Simbas believed the same thing. What was bad the National army being the same kind of mindset believed the same too. Topped with fact they suck as militias and can’t shoot worth shit at first till they get seasoned they had whole battalions disappear before the Simbas. But when the mercenaries came that all changed fast. Then of course the UN came. All over natural materials to not the people.
