Re: Madison Cops Shoot Homeless Guy Brandishing a Knife
He stabbed a cop and got shot Am I missing something here? You can clearly see one of the cops toss the knife at the end. These people have simply lost their fucking minds |

Re: Madison Cops Shoot Homeless Guy Brandishing a Knife
The concern people have is that, while he did lightly injure a piggie (dude was treated and back home in less than an hour so the cardiomyopathy lardass has been cultivating with years of Blue Plate Specials is far more lethal to him than a homeless guy with a knife. ), the actual shooting that took place on video occurred after he had been taken down and was on the ground with two of the cops pinning his legs. THAT was the point where the big fat fucker decided to pull and shoot at point blank range. While three of his fellow cops were within a foot of his target and actively engaging in keeping the homeless guy pinned. He's lucky he didn't tag one of them in the process. If you cannot see the difference between a cop shooting in self-defense against an assailant actively attacking him and a cop executing a guy who has been pinned and largely-incapacitated by multiple other officers, then it's you that has lost your mind. I won't disagree that based on his record, this guy was a shitbag and the city is likely better off without him. But that's still not justification for shooting a suspect who has already been taken to the ground and pinned. THAT is why people are pissed. Because some of us CAN see the difference between the two things. Can always count on the ol' DR Bootlicker Pig Brigade to come to stand tall on the thin blue line. 17 years on this site and I have yet to hear 'bad shoot' from any one of you frequent flyers on the Comply Or Die puddlejumper. |

Re: Madison Cops Shoot Homeless Guy Brandishing a Knife
Tough situation where a split second decision was made. This wasn't a situation where a cop kneeled on a guy's neck for 10 minutes or clubbed the shit out of him like Rodney King (I don't defend those guys so please don't lump me in with the Pig Brigade). I didn't see the guy pinned and subdued, but I also didn't replay and pause the video several times like many of us here may have, or download it and play it in slow motion. I can also assure you the cops attention was 100% focused on the guy they were trying to subdue and didn't stop to see they had him outnumbered xxx to one. You can train your ass off for many years but you're still dealing with a human being's split second decision process. Personally, I wish he wasn't shot. They may have been able to kick him in the head several times (the taser didn't work) to put the finishing touches on subduing him. The court of public opinion would have ripped them to shreds, but at least he would have lived to have his day in court. |

Re: Madison Cops Shoot Homeless Guy Brandishing a Knife
Yes, it was a split second decision, and the cop had just been cut with the knife. This was not a cold blooded execution style killing, so I will try to see it from the cop's point of view. The man still had the knife and might have slashed sideways at one of the other cops, so the shooter may well have had the motive of protecting his fellow cops - we can't read his mind. However, I suspect that it was more of a gut level reaction to having been cut by the knife. Still, the assailant was down and in the process of being pinned and, presumably, disarmed.
