The worst of the worst IE Bernardo, Clifford Olson etc are eligible for parole after 25 years, but they will die in prison...... Olson did at least.

The whole dangerous offender status usually applies to people who have committed a series of offenses that don't amount to a life sentence, but are still serious enough to deem that person a habitual danger to society.

There are certain things that seem inconsistent, such as Homolka being free, but that was the result of a plea bargain to get her to testify against Bernardo..... The tapes were recovered afterwards.

Homolka was rather smart. She got the plea agreement BEFORE the tapes were viewed. IMHO, had the prosecution seen the tapes prior and her willingness to participate with Paul, she would still be incarcerated.
