I agree. I also doubt he filmed the whole thing from start to finish. We know he used the small pink camera, but I doubt it would have enough battery life and memory capacity to do more than 90 mins or so. So I reckon he was picking his moments to film.

MONTREAL - Detectives investigating the Luka Magnotta case are analyzing a longer, unedited video clip that they believe shows Chinese student Jun lin, 33, being murdered and dismembered, QMI Agency has learned.

The video lasts about fifteen minutes, compared with 10 minutes, 45 seconds for the edited clip that was posted to a gore website.

Sources tell QMI Agency the long-form video contains no music, unlike the one posted to the Internet. It also includes all of the background noise in the apartment as a man, believed to be Lin, is stabbed to death with an ice pick and methodically cut to pieces.

Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere of the Montreal police confirmed that detectives seized the longer video but refused to provide more details

Lafreniere, citing a desire to protect the investigation, refused to say if the video was found on a computer seized from Magnotta's Montreal apartment or elsewhere.

An attempt was made to delete the video file, a source said, but Montreal police computer experts were able to retrieve the clip, along with other files.

The Magnotta case made international headlines after a janitor found Lin's torso in a travel bag outside Magnotta's west-end apartment on May 29. Lin's hands and feet were mailed to federal political parties in Ottawa as well as to two Vancouver schools. His head hasn't been found. Lin and Magnotta were ex-lovers.

Magnotta, a 29-year-old porn actor, is currently in Germany awaiting extradition. Police have previously said they might send investigators to Germany to meet the suspect.

In a related development, Lafreniere confirmed that police have ruled out a Magnotta connection to three unsolved body-parts murders committed in Los Angeles, Miami and New York.

I guess if he left his laptop in his flat, then it would explain going to the internet cafe. I just can't wrap my head around why he didn't take his laptop with him. Dude had no clue wtf he was doing. He appeared to have built up the pre-show but didn't suss out what he was going to do after he fled.

He probably thought the police could track it/ID it like they did with the camera in the cat videos. Or he just didn't care, but it's weird that he would try to delete the video file if that was the case.

You can track a phone if not easier and he was using that until he was captured. He only cared that his notoriety was still headline news & that people were talking about him on the web.

I don't know what to think, he obviously wanted the cops to come after him and IMHO he didn't really try to hide very well.
He left obvious clues as to the fake name he was using, didn't really change his appearance, used his own apartment to kill the guy, was caught on tape at the post office mailing the body parts.... And he left his computer for the cops to find.

He's a goddamn idiot for sure, but him getting caught was a planned thing. I'm sure he planned every detail of that shit. The reasons why he did certain things seem insane to us (because ya know, we're no fucking narcissistic psychopaths) but I'm sure he had a reason in his mind, how ever fucked up they may be.
