So is he so calm because he knew he fucked up and knew this would be end result? When your in that...lifestyle, you have to expect to be killed at some point, to kidnapped, tortured, and know that your death will be on film, you have to know that. So do these people just take this whole going to be tied up, tortured, interviewed, beheaded, situation as something that needs to be done because its part of "the life"?

I'm guessing that when they struck his cervical spine with such force, it caused a forceful involuntary reaction and he jerked up like that, not that he actually could sit up. When they first start cutting, yeah, his legs were moving and that was probably still voluntary movement at that point. I do think the guy was pretty calm about the whole thing; that's probably the best way to be, in that situation.
