Licensed Firearm Holder Shoots Businessman in the Head During Altercation
The man arrested in connection with the shooting death of another man on Tavern Avenue, Kingston 6 on Tuesday, remains in police custody Tuesday afternoon. The suspect, whose name is being withheld pending the laying of charges, is reportedly a licensed firearm holder. The deceased has been identified as Norris F, a 57 year old businessman of 32 Tavern Avenue. Reports are that at around 7:15 am, an altercation developed between Norris and the suspect. During the confrontation, the suspect pulled a firearm and shot Norris in the head at point blank range. He was pronounced dead at the nearby University Hospital of the West Indies. The suspect claimed in the immediate aftermath of the shooting that Norris had drawn a knife on him and suggested that he shot him in self defence. The incident, with clear audio, was captured on CCTV. |
