I was a kid when it happened but my recollection is that he was sitting next to it while my cousins husband was trying to light it. It was already lit but the flame was invisible so he when he squirted more alcohol in it basically erupted in my dads direction. It would have hit him square in the face but fortunately he managed to cover his face with his hands, hence the burns to the back of his hands, throat, and ears.

Thank you very much for taking the time / effort to explain what happened. There is REAL value in Documenting Reality, we can learn from other people's experiences and events.

I have never heard of significant burns from a small alcohol burner or stove, but combined with other DR videos, your relative's accident makes perfect sense. Specifically, I am thinking of the Chinese girl killed when the waiter's alcohol bottle caught fire and sprayed burning alcohol like a flamethrower. Any bottle, like the plastic one in this picture of the Swedish Army standard Trangia kit, might explode / spray when squirted on an unseen flame. Perhaps this is why the US military uses those shitty / smelly toxic Trioxane bars for cooking, no chance of explosive vapors.

I thank Jesus (the jewboy born around 0 AD) for giving me the wisdom to find DR and Chris for creating DR. I might even send him (Chris, not the Jew) a few dollars when I get around to it...

Now now, picking up dropped / discarded gasoline is not a crime in most countries. What the victims were is UNINFORMED. If the victims had seen the Documenting Reality pics / vids of leaking tankers exploding and killing hundreds in the Middle East and other poopy places, they would have run away instead of towards the leaking tanker truck.
