M-14 and FAL would be fine in full auto from a good rest maybe, but those larger calibres on FA mode were never very controllable. Even the venerable M16 in the more tame 5.56 seems to be preferred in the 3-round burst no? Spray and pray may have its moment of value, but I think most times its not tactically advantageous.. esp if you only have the scant amount of ammo you lug around with a 7.62 versus the lighter (thus more plentiful) 5.56. I own both platforms and have fun shooting each, but if I could only choose one to be a FA gun it would be the AR (poor man's M16 :)
