Re: LASD Shoots Woman with Knife in Her Home
I've seen some Harris County Sheriff's carry 1911's(with extended mags í ½í¸‚) which are obviously .45 but most are .40 in the Gulf Coast area.

That video should always serve as a reminder for those who say stupid things like "Why'd they have to shoot so many times"

Re: LASD Shoots Woman with Knife in Her Home
Please don't propagate pure, unadulterated BS!!! It is a somatic reflex response to trauma that causes a person to jump (be lifted off the ground) after being shot, the hydrostatic shock from a .45 ACP round does not have enough energy to lift the 185 pounds an average 6' man would weigh. It is like believing a shotgun blast to the chest would sent a man flying backwards a few feet like in the movies. A 5.45 x 45mm NATO would have the hydrostatic energy to make a 5 gal. water jug explode and jump into the air but not a person. Even a measley .22 cal has the capability to cause a person to be lifted off the ground, but it is due to the reflex response induced by the trauma, not as a result of the hydrostatic force imparted into the body. |

Re: LASD Shoots Woman with Knife in Her Home
Actual medical scholars disagree. Col. Frank Chamberlin MD is considered one of the greatest authorities on the subject. He extensively studied ballistic wounds on wartime soldiers as a trauma surgeon during WWII and conducted continuing research after leaving the military. He concluded specifically that the trauma exerted from a .45 ACP round was far beyond a simple monosynaptic reflex as you laughably suggest. You should really try to educate yourself before you suffer further embarrassment. Try reading his book: Chamberlin FT, Gun Shot Wounds, in Handbook for Shooters and Reloaders, Vol. II, Ackley PO, ed., Plaza Publishing, Salt Lake City, Utah, 1966. |

Re: LASD Shoots Woman with Knife in Her Home
Why should I be embarrassed to tell the truth and to abide by reality? Reality will always beat "Experts"/Theorists/Book writers! In the following video everyone can see how a secret service agent is "lifted off the ground" by the "powerful hydrostatic shock" of a .22 cal. bullet in this video of the Reagan assassination attempt: Watch at 0:29, everyone knows Hinkley used a .22 cal revolver, I rest my case! So everyone can confirm it didn't matter it was one of the weakest calibers in existence for an average height/weight guy to be "lifted off the ground". |
