If the cop did that he would have caused a massive pile up, killed himself and other people in the process. It's a 6 lane freeway not a single road with slow traffic.

You've probably seen all the videos of cars breaking down in the middle of the freeway no? They're toast

A lot of you are also missing the context that the cop probably just arrived on scene a few minutes, single unit, single guy, can't do much without cordination but you can bet other units were rolling further up the freeway to close traffic safely and fend off.

I agree. I am a former Cop and we would immediately stop the traffic. One time I had a female who was in an argument with her boyfriend. She demanded that he pull over and let her out the car so he did and pulled into the emergency lane and she got out and was hit by a car (It was night time). When I arrived 5 mins later she was DRT and had already been run over a couple of times laying in the road. I immediately blocked the lane she was laying in with my unit and emergency lights so she would not continue to get run over and turn to mush. Within 10 mins we had all the south bound lanes closed to traffic. This here is ridiculous.

How do you plan to close down an entire single lane freeway with just your cop car? Yeah you can park behind the body but you'll be rear ended or cause somebody to swerve and crash within seconds.
