LAPD Shoot & Kills Man After Refusing to Put Down Large Metal Pipe He's Waving
Los Angeles police shot and killed a man armed with a large metal pipe Saturday afternoon in downtown, authorities said. The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Olympic Boulevard and South Broadway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. "Someone here was concerned enough that they made a 911 call related to that individual and his actions, which is, he was armed with this large pipe," LAPD told. Two LAPD officers responded to the street corner, where a man was allegedly wielding a 4-to-5-foot long pipe in front of a restaurant. Clara Rios, who owns a nearby business, recalled seeing two civilian "gentlemen, angry and antagonizing each other down the street." "When they hit the corner, it just kind of went from an angry fight to something else," she said. According to investigators, police attempted to subdue the armed man with a Taser, and one officer opened fire twice after the suspect repeatedly refused to put down the pipe. It was unclear how many times the man was struck by gunfire. He was identified only as being over 50 years old. The second man was being sought. At least one bystander recorded part of the encounter on cellphone video, which appears to show the officers each pointing a handgun at the man as onlookers stand nearby. Detectives will review that footage and dashcam video as part of their investigation, officials said. Although LAPD Central Division officers have been equipped with body cameras, the cameras of the officers involved in Saturday's shooting were not turned on at the time. The intersection was closed for several hours as the LAPD's Office of the Inspector General and other personnel collected evidence and interviewed witnesses at the scene. |

Why shoot and kill when you shoot him in one leg he will not do anything and you can arrest him without any problems.

Because its a deadly weapon and he motioned towards them. Already said taser didnt work. why should they get their heads bashed in by some asshole. And you shoot center mass. Its on him if he dies. Its not the movies kids. People dont get shot and fly back 10 feet. They can take bullets and keep moving. So if your trying to hurt me, guess what your dead. Be a normal person and this won't happen to you.

cause cops are trained to shoot for center of mass, dont come at police, under pressure i doubt you are thinking about where to shoot someone, but yeah they should be taught to shoot for limbs in less hazardous situations

Why is this attitude ONLY in America? How come in Canada our police regularly tackle and arrest people that are considered a threat? How come America likes killing people that are disturbed INSTEAD of helping rehabilitate them? Other countries prefer to treat and rehabilitate the mentally ill... it just seems odd that America prefers to execute those who are sick in the head. Can anyone answer this?
