Re: Land Dispute Results in Elderly Man Being Shot Dead

Unfortunately, he lacked the situational awareness to realize this was never a conversation. If keeping the right hand behind the back wasn't already warning enough, seeing the watch when it emerged should have been a clear indication that the guy was left handed and about to use a weapon.
I don't think the victim lacked situational awareness... he just didn't have a good reason or opportunity to pull his own gun or big ass machete until it was too late. There's a moment when the dude moves his gun from one hand to the other, takes a half step forward, and we see the watch hand come forward, that's when we see the other guy instinctively reach for his own gun on his hip but stopped when he realized there was nothing in that hand.

He probably suspected the guy was armed but also knew the odds of successfully drawing on a guy that close, who likely already had a gun in his hand would not be ideal.. I think that's why he tried to play it relatively cool, he had a gun and big ass knife on him but didn't want to give the other guy a reason to draw... unfortunately for him though, the other dude was a cowardly little bitch.

Just a side note, it looks like he might've gotten lucky with one of those shots too. It looks like he got the guy's shooting arm causing him to drop his gun, had that not happen he might've gotten lit up too.

Even if he knew he couldn't get to his sidearm, he needed to do something.

Regarding your side note, that could explain why a witness who obviously recorded the crime managed to survive. He did ever in his power to make himself an easy target.

(Stepping out from behind the truck with the phone held high, the half-assed attempt to climb over the fence instead of slipping through the wires, the endless whining that even an innocent bystander would want to silence).

What did he think he was going to surprise him with a bouquet of flowers with his hand behind him? He should have known something was coming.
I really thought it was going to be flowers. I was surprised to see a gun come out.

Well it looked like someone wasn't bright enough to realize he was about to get smoked. It really couldn't get any more obvious that something wasn't kosher but he did nothing. So he's now a corpse and the other guy is going to end up in jail because he's so stupid he made sure to have witnesses and video

Re: Land Dispute Results in Elderly Man Being Shot Dead

In a rural area of Macapá, Amapá state, Brazil, a 72-year-old man, Antônio C.O., was shot dead after an argument involving a land dispute.

The crime occurred around 4 p.m. on a farm. In the video, Antônio is seen arguing with someone inside a pickup truck, identified as Francisco Canindé, a businessman. Initially, the argument is observed from a distance by Francisco's brother-in-law, 59-year-old Antônio Carlos Lima de Araújo, a former Army soldier.

The footage shows Araújo, always keeping one hand behind his back, watching the elderly man argue heatedly with Canindé, who was in a pick-up truck, over a land negotiation. After a brief exchange of insults, Araújo shoves Antônio, after which Araújo got out a gun and started firing.

Wounded, Antônio attempted to retrieve something from a plastic bag. He grabbed a firearm, but being severely injured, he was unable to fire. He then collapsed, and died at the scene.

The lead investigator believes the crime may have been premeditated. According to him, the group was trying to provoke the victim, in order to justify a violent reaction and to claim self-defence.

Francisco Canindé turned himself in, but for now, Antônio Araújo remains at large.
When they were filming with the doors closed you could really see they were in Mexico…
