Cartel murders have to be approved by their leaders or else they the low level member will get killed on the basis of disrespecting authority. So chances are, they’d been following this guy for a while and had enough intel on him to know he is the person they’re looking for, higher ups in the cartel do not like the attention an accidental kill due to wrong identification brings. This is how they operate, and 99.9% of cartel violence is against other cartel members. Whatever the guy who is being gutted like a fish in the desert did, he sure the hell pissed someone off. It’s all about respect and machismo with these guys. If you do anything to hurt their pride, well…! You’re in for a bloody ride.  |

Interesting, thanks for posting the interview. I'm not convinced it's the same guy, he describes a similar but not identical killing, and the guy interviewed def appears and sounds younger and thinner than the killer in the OP.
