The first-aid guy seems to be holding the victims head in place, because the guy's neck has been hacked into a 'slinky'! If he let it go, it might walk down the stairs by itself.

He knew how to use a knife alright, check out the 'X' on the back of this guy's neck, at the very beginning of the video. I think this guy was allowed to live.
