In this case he (the victim) just wanted commited suicide by cop. He repeatedly asked the officers to shoot him.

Re: Kajieme Powell Fatally Shot by Police in St. Louis

1. Was told to drop his weapon multiple times.
2. Feel sorry for the cops who had to lawfully shoot this nutcase.
3. No Worldstar comments?!? ... wtf lol.

I would like to point out though - the amount of shots fired was a bit uncalled for. Why are cops not trained to shoot nutcases in the knee etc basically anywhere non lethal?? I can understand not every call out is the same for police BUT given this guy had a knife and could of been disabled with a shot to the knee or even shoulder.. instead of gunning him down so violently to death..
1. Cops are trained to continue firing until the threat is stopped, generally this means the man has fallen to the ground.
2. A shot to the knee/shoulder will not stop all people so it can't be employed as a reasonable tactic, also both of those targets are extremely hard to hit.
3. A shot in the leg or shoulder can leave the suspect dead all the same, as either targets are extremely close to the femoral artery and heart respectively.
4. If anyone, cop or CC fires at a place on the body, intending not to cause mortal wounds, then they obviously did not feel it was "either the bad guy or them" and had to shoot in self defense.

In conclusion shooting people in the knee or shoulder, can cause very rapid death, is extremely hard to do so will in most cases led to projectiles missing their targets and all bullets that don't hit your target will hit something you didn't want to be shot, and to top it off intentionally shooting people in "non-lethal" areas is a legal nightmare.

The only people who think "why don't they shoot them in the leg?" are dumb people. Cops are trained to shoot center mass. Why? Because it's a bigger target. You shoot at a smaller target, like a damn knee... Your risk to miss and hit an innocent bystander.

Because they are poorly trained.
