I would like to point out though - the amount of shots fired was a bit uncalled for. Why are cops not trained to shoot nutcases in the knee etc basically anywhere non lethal?? I can understand not every call out is the same for police BUT given this guy had a knife and could of been disabled with a shot to the knee or even shoulder.. instead of gunning him down so violently to death..

Whilst I completely agree with the point about the amount of shots fired (excessive) the last bit about "shooting someone in the knee, etc" shows a complete lack of knowledge.

All police and military are taught to aim for the chest. Not because it will kill, but because it is the biggest target area and it will neutralise the target.

Someone with a knee wound can still use their hands to shoot you right back.


However, that was completely excessive. 1 shot should have been sufficient. British police can do it... not sure why Americans can't.

When the decision is made to fire their weapon, it is to STOP THE SUSPECT... The officers are trained to shoot for body mass, and don't stop shooting until the threat is neutralized. Under the stress of that situation, there is no way a person could make a "shot to the knee, or even shoulder"... Their training takes over, and the suspect goes down....every time......
