Judge, Doing His Morning Jog, Killed in Hit and Run

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the death of additional sessions and district judge U. A in India, after CCTV footage showed that a 3 wheeler vehicle swerved sharply and hit him while he was on his morning jog.

The hit-and-run incident took place a little after 5 am yesterday. Though bystanders rushed the Judge
to a medical college, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the judge’s family notified the police when he did not return home by 7 am. The judge’s driver accompanied the police team to the hospital, after they were informed of a road accident, and identified the body.

The Supreme Court has taken note of the judge’s death.

“I have constituted an SIT led by the city SP who will look into all possible reasons. The CCTV footage and all related aspects would be analysed and identify the vehicle. We have respected the victim’s family members to file a complaint and we will register an FIR,” said a senior superintendent of police (SSP).

The judge had recently rejected the bail petitions of two members of a gang based in Uttar Pradesh, who are accused in a high-profile murder case.

However, the police said it is too soon to establish any connections between the bail hearing and the ostensible ‘accident’.

Prabhat Sinha, a lawyer at the Jharkhand high court told the Indian Express that the ‘accident’ is a clear case of murder. “The CCTV footage clearly shows that the auto driver intentionally hitting the judge,” he said.

That’s soft. You wouldn’t expect that to kill most people.

Perhaps there was another instrument of death involved. Was hidden from view by the three wheeler's canopy?

Re: Judge, Doing His Morning Jog, Killed in Hit and Run

That was my thought exactly. Especially when you've seen a guy literally cut in half and still trying to get up. Probably died at a later time from the injuries (and the lack of medical services available).
I’m thinking he died of embarrassment. Imagine being taken out by a three wheeler. You’d never hear the end of it.

~ Self Explanatory, but then he died from getting lightly 'tapped', by a TuTu tricycle? Which most likely means he was probably already on his last leg in health.

Re: Judge, Doing His Morning Jog, Killed in Hit and Run

That’s soft. You wouldn’t expect that to kill most people.
It is not soft at all.

To easily understand why in an empirical way:

Hit your forehead with a golf ball, then using the same amount of force do it using a hammer, then using the same amount force do it with a sledge hammer.

It is pure physics, a soft nudge with a shopping cart would do little harm to your body, a similar nudge with a half ton vehicle would cause serious injuries and probably death.
