Requirements vary state to state regarding waiting periods and such. Here in Oregon there is no waiting period for receiving your firearms after purchase, no limit on quantity of firearms purchased, and you have to do a 2 min background check phone call (cashier does this actually). So, no felonies? 21* years old? Buy as many guns as you want and stroll home

* Have to be 18 for rifles shotguns etc. 21 for pistols.

This isn't at all what the media outlets are making it out to be (ie. cold blooded cop murder). This idiot went and grabbed the one BB gun that wasn't in the package like it should be, and wandered the store with it, brandishing it in "aggressive" positions multiple times. I know how BB rifles are sold off the shelf, and it's not without a packaging and tie straps...so this guy is just a fucking idiot.
As for the cops, well obviously they received calls about someone brandishing a rifle in the store and they went off of that knowledge. They yelled for him to put it down and instead, he reacted by turning in their direction and raising the barrel. Sorry, but the cops don't know it's a BB gun and this dipshit got killed. I don't feel sorry for him at all.

The way the media is portraying it only shows him standing there then being shot - no audio either. So, it looks like he's just minding his business then POW, dead. That just isn't the case after seeing the video. Hell, in the 2nd vid there, you can clearly see a family who came to look at fish and the son (?) is saying something to fatass mom as they slink away from the isle. It was clearly a concern, and hell, I'd be concerned too...even if he was white. Remember the last Walmart shootout? White folks...so, this isn't about a black guy innocently holding a BB rifle in the package getting murdered by cops. Let's remember that the majority of weapons used in homicides are stolen..criminal history with felonies or even some types of misdemeanors (not sure on that one) prevents legal purchase. Clean record? Here's your weapon to defend yourself, law abiding citizen. It's a very purposeful system but the availability of stolen weapons is what throws it all out of whack. I cn't tell in the vid, did he remove the orange cap? It's required by law on all bb guns in most states I believe.
