Re: It's Machete Time
A 68-year-old man died after being brutally beaten by a 33-year-old man in a store in Sitio Wawa, Barangay San Rafael, Rodriguez, Rizal, past 4 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23. The suspect even filmed the crime on his cellphone. In the video, the victim, who was sitting next to a table, appeared to be sleeping when the suspect suddenly started hitting him several times. They allegedly tried to take the victim to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival. According to PLt. Col. Paul Sabulao, chief of the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station, both the suspect and the victim were drunk when the incident occurred. “Our guard (victim) was drinking and got drunk in that place and according to our witness, when our father, our guard, gets drunk, he just rests there, that's his habit there. Our suspect also had a drink next to his drink and when he said goodbye, he started throwing his drinks at our victim,” said PLt. Col. Sabulao. The PNP immediately caught the suspect in Barangay San Isidro. The PNP said it found no motive for the stabbing and that the suspect was just drunk. “They said our suspect was just drunk and had been drinking when it happened. We found no motive but he was really just tripped... because who kills when you want to video yourself so you can catch yourself doing it,” added PLt. Col. Sabulao. According to the suspect, he got drunk because the victim was allegedly cursing his cousin. The suspect also allegedly abused his son. And before the stabbing, the victim also allegedly cursed at him. “He was getting me some alcohol and I said I didn’t have any more alcohol and then he cursed at me… He wasn’t sleeping… because when he cursed at me, I got drunk,” the suspect explained. According to PLt. Col. Sabulao, they got the suspect’s cellphone but the video of the crime was posted on social media. The suspect denied that he was the one who posted the video on social media. “I didn’t think about it. I was already on my way home… I didn’t post it,” he said. The used knife was also recovered near the scene of the incident. The suspect is now detained at the custodial facility of the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station and is facing murder charges. |
