The most interesting part of the article states, "As of 2003, an average of 45% of married couples were related in the Arab world..." That is not an insignificant statistic. In the UK alone, 30% of total birth defects were attributed to Muslim couples with first-cousin marriages when the Muslim population is only a small proportion of the UK population.
