Here is what we learned way back during the world wars and what even 5 year olds understand now - That is that the best way to get information is to befriend them and gain thier trust or even respect. At the least noble you bribe them. This way, you will be getting information that you can trust, since he is willingly complying. Torture on the other hand, produces information of ZERO value, as they will soon enough just tell you what you want to hear.

This is literally how we started the lie about al queda working with Saddam in Iraq.
