A 27-year-old woman, Muskan, collapsed and died shortly after entering a hotel room. She was taken to a district hospital, where she was declared dead.

Muskan had married a bank manager, Nilesh, four months ago. On 10th October, Muskan returned to her parental home to prepare for a railway engineer examination. Nilesh arrived at Jhansi some time later, and took her away the next day, saying they would visit Muskan's aunt's home. Instead, the couple went to a hotel.

Nilesh claimed that Muskan had died from the fall outside their hotel room. However, Muskan's father, Ramjilal, claimed that Muskan actually seemed to have suffered severe head injuries. Ramjilal says he suspects Nilesh grabbed Muskan by the face and slammed her head against a wall.

Ramjilal also claimed that Nilesh had relationships with other women after marrying Muskan, including another wife.

Police said the murder allegations are being investigated. Nilesh has been taken into custody while an autopsy is being conducted.
