Re: Indian Restaurant Employee Slips on Floor, Dies
Thanks. It was what's known as a coup-contrecoup injury. A coup injury is damage at the point of impact. A contrecoup injury is when the brain sloshes back & forth & the opposite side slams into the inside of the skull. A coup-contrecoup injury is when you have both. I had relatively minor bleeding (not thick clumps) throughout the brain. The olfactory nerves descend from the brain to the nose & are frequently damaged by this type of injury when they're stretched/torn as the brain is sloshing back & forth. I was pretty fuzzy for some time after I left the hospital.

What if he had only broken his neck? The black guy who idiotically lifted him off the flood would have killed him, or at a minimum paralyzed him from the neck down for life. It drives me crazy - people nowadays are too busy playing video games or watching TV to educate themselves.

Re: Indian Restaurant Employee Slips on Floor, Dies
Yeah I bet you were, that's fucking crazy. A guy in my class at college died after some random dickhead punched him for no reason when he was walking home one evening. He fell backwards and hit his head on the kerb, that was the injury that was fatal according to the coroner's report. He was 19 years old. The cunt who did it only got 4 years in prison for it. From the sounds of it you were really lucky to have survived that. I can't imagine living with no sense of smell. Are you aware of it a lot or have you got used to it ? Has it changed the kind of food you eat? I'm curious to understand it, hope you don't mind me asking all these questions. |
