A few years back I read a really great article, in Playboy actually lol, about these men in India who work with & train elephants, and the article was about one particular elephant and the man who was her 13th trainer was pictured on his back. That went on to be the 13th man that elephant killed, and it's apparently understood when taking the job that "live by elephant, die by elephant" - bc they already know it will eventually kill them. BUT it was bc of people working so closely with them over there that researchers began to learn about the period of "musk" that all bullshit elephants experience, which is when they become their most dangerous. I always thought that was pretty cool to find in Playboy lol.
