An anti-drug activist, Parvinder S.J., was shot dead by a medical store owner, Ashwani K., after he questioned him during a livestream for allegedly selling drugs. Parvinder was known for exposing the illegal sale of addictive drugs at medical stores.

In the livestream, Parvinder claimed to have managed to purchase drugs at the shop. Following a heated argument, Ashwani pulled out a pistol.

Parvinder kept on telling Ashwani to "Maar mujhe" (kill me), questioning why he had a gun with him. Ashwani is currently on the run.

In 2023, Parvinder and his supporters had caught a man selling banned capsules, and followed the man to Ashwani's shop. They subsequently paraded Ashwani through the market, before taking him to a police station and filing a complaint against him. Parvinder was also charged in the incident, for taking the law into his own hands.
