Case of culpable homicide registered against Pradeep, Police is investigating. Some people mix Gandhak (sulfur) and Potash to create a fire cracker-type explosive mixture. |

I used to mix 2 parts sulfur to 1 part zinc powder to make model rocket fuel. Sure, you could buy the Estes rocket engines at any hobby store, but it was much more fun to make your own. If you didn't get the nozzle opening (made from Durham's rock hard water putty) exactly right at the end of tube, it would explode. Fortunately, I made the bodies of these model rockets out of tubes made from thick cardboard instead of metal so the worst thing that ever happened to me when one exploded was I had a coughing/choking spell when the clouds of thick egg-fart flavored smoke wafted my way. My brother-in-law was not so lucky; a pile of this mixture (called "micrograin" in the model rocket community) we were testing exploded in his face. He looked like he was wearing black-face afterwards which must have been embarrassing when he went to the ER later that day  |
