Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson
This reminds me of what happened to Clint Malarchuk. He survived, I guess this guy wasn't as lucky. |

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson
Some players are just assholes. I played lacrosse in high school, we had a hockey player that wore the cleats with steel blades, are those for baseball? He ran up an opposing players leg calf, there were bleeding long tears on his leg. The opposing coach brought his injured player over to our bench and without emotion showed our coach what our asshole was doing. I couldn't believe it, and to this day avoid asshole guy at events. I have seen high sticking, but never with a skate. I don't see any reason why his leg is that high leading with his skate into the guys body. |

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson
I don't think even C3PO could work that one out. Terrible accident, videos and Images from the UK are very rare. Shame for the guy and his family, even that old saying "he was doing something he loved" won't do for such a freak accident. I bet the guy who's skate cut him is in a dark, dark place too |

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson
I remember another accident just like that (Malarchuk incident-1989) but he survived thanx to a combat medic on the scene, pinching his slashed carotid artery and not let go until medics arrived

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson
After seeing that footage slowed down, I don't believe there was any intent to injure by any means, but I do think he threw his leg out in a somewhat wreckless way to attempt to block AJ. You could argue that he was just hitting the other player and the contact with AJ was incidental, but he knew where the puck was and was trying to get back in front of AJ when he contacted the other guy. I believe he threw that leg out in front of AJ intentionally. Could I be wrong? Sure. I certainly don't believe for a second that he had any intent to injure. Unless the guy is known as a dirty player then I don't think he should be given any grief. I would imagine he's in a bad place right now, as others have mentioned. I feel bad for him as long as he's not someone with a reputation for dirty play.
