Just because someone fucks off a comment does not make them a leftist, a moron, a fascist, conservative, magat, etc., etc., yadda yadda and so forth. People click that button for a lot of different reasons that have nothing to do with politics. People use it to troll, bait, or even claim odd site statistics.

On the flipside, thanking a post does not mean someone agrees with every single line of it. I have thanked thousands of posts for just the reply itself or because I appreciate the effort or thought put into them, or even their civility in responding, regardless of whether I agree with the content.

I did not fuck that member's post off but if I had it would have been for the following reasons:

-He said ten things and only listed four. (petty, yes)
-At the time of this post there was no verified info about her being an agitator, why she was there, where she came from, where she was going, or if she even lived on that street. A bystander yelled "you just killed my neighbor" which, at the time, suggested the opposite.
-The callousness of "painted the snow with her stupidity" is just inhuman and came off very edgelordy.
-"Whether you leftists like it or not we voted for this." I was raised Republican with both my father and stepfather in the military. I made a choice in my early 40s to not affiliate with either party because I agree and disagree with both on different issues. I also know voters from both sides of the aisle who absolutely do not want shit like this happening.

The world is not that black and white, despite how many people treat it that way to make sense of it.

Having said all that... this member was subsequently banned for calling the site owner on his home phone, making death threats, and saying he would "see him soon" after being thread banned by a moderator. He also posted these threats on other social media platforms. Now that is a fair example of behavior that has nothing to do with common sense. I couldn't care less what his political leanings are, but it directly disproves your theory.

Regarding your conclusion about the ratio of reactions meaning the country is split between "common sense" and "leftist morons," that is just not how logic works.

You made three flawed assumptions:

1. Incorrect assumption about causality. You assumed people fuck off posts because of politics alone. They might do it because of tone, cruelty, lack of info, arrogance, formatting, they disliked the way it was written or any number of more insignificant reasons.

2. False equivalence. You turned "thank you = common sense" and "fuck you = leftist moron" as if those categories are self evident. They are not. That is circular reasoning that only works if you already believe your own conclusion.

3. Unwarranted generalization. The country is divided, but using one thread on a niche forum as your metric does not demonstrate that. It does not account for context, intent, or any of the actual variables that shape political divides. But I agree that it is more divided now than I've ever seen in my near 54 years on this planet.

One of the most prolific problems I see encouraging this divide is that if something contradicts someone's belief system, they slap labels on it so they can file it away in their head without having to think about it, and then instantly dismiss and harshly judge.

But I say again...
Not every Republican is ____.
Not every Democrat is ____.
Not every _____ is _____.

I'm well aware that not everyone on the Left is like this, but unfortunately those that are like this are the ones speaking the loudest for that side, and there aren't enough good and sensible people like you calling them out and making it clear that they don't speak for you.

It's sort of like of Islam. The "moderate Muslims" want us to believe that Islam is a religion of peace and that the extremists don't define them. But you never see them taking any real stand against the ones that think Jews should be rounded up and killed or that we should all live under Sharia law. Their silence is tacit approval.

but she "fled" right into the path of a federal officer to try to avoid something she just caused and had to answer for. obstruction of justice is a crime, she tried to flee the scene of that crime and clearly didn't mind if that path led directly into a human being. using a vehicle as a weapon is considered deadly force since if she had ran over the officer its reasonable to believe he could die. the second she hit the accelerator to make that vehicle go forward towards that officer is the moment she opened the situation for use of deadly force. I'd say that's really stupid of her. nobody's personal feelings change that. when you were saying "she was very clearly yadda yadda ..." are you saying that would be a reasonable thing to do? i didn't learn that in drivers education so it wasn't very clear to me what she was doing until she made that fatal decision. but when you say it was clear (clearly) - could see yourself doing the same thing or something similar in an identical or similar situation??? i really hope not. it wouldn't make it any less of a dumb way to die.
